Fifty Shades Of Grey

Fifty Shades of Grey is a 2011 erotic novel by British author E. L. James. Set largely in Seattle, it is the first instalment in a trilogy that traces the deepening relationship between a college graduate, Anastasia Steele, and a young business magnate, Christian Grey. It is notable for its explicitly erotic scenes featuring elements of sexual practices involving bondage/discipline, dominance/submission, and sadism/masochism (BDSM).

The bestselling e-book of 2012: 'Fifty Shades of Grey'

Sunday, January 6, 2013

E.L. James' sexy novel about innocent college student Anastasia Steele and her love affair with handcuff-inclined billionaire Christian Grey was the bestselling e-book for all of 2012.
If you find yourself reading books on a screen rather than in paper and ink, join the club.
One in six books sold is an electronic book, according to Booknet Canada, a non-profit organization that surveyed 1,000 people about their buying habits in the first half of 2012.
“There is no debating the fact that ebook sales are on the rise,” said an executive summary of its $500 report on the Canadian book consumer, released in October.
According to Digital Book World, James dominated the e-book bestseller list. The three books in her series -- "Fifty Shades of Grey," "Fifty Shades Darker" and "Fifty Shades Freed" -- took the three top spots, respectively, on the e-book bestseller list.
If that might indicate that readers seek particularly adult e-books, it's a rule that was swiftly broken by young adult writer Suzanne Collins. Her Hunger Games trilogy, propelled by a successful screen adaptation of the first book, came in at Nos. 4 ("The Hunger Games"), 5 ("Catching Fire") and 6 ("Mockingjay") on the e-book bestsller list. The three bundled together took another spot in the top 10, coming in at No. 8.Katniss Everdeen may have a love triangle and a budding revolution on hand to grab readers' attention, but based on the list Digital Book World posted showing the Top 25 Ebook Best-Sellers of 2012, when it comes to drawing ebook readers, the District 12 tribute has nothing on Anastasia Steele, the lead character in E.L. James' Fifty Shades trilogy, which took the top three spots on the list of best-selling ebooks for 2012. While the list shows the price of each book there's no specific information on how close this race was between the two series.
